The Fruits of Our Un-Labour – New Book Announcement

Just out this month: “The Fruits of Our Un-Labour” by Bina Shah

I’m excited to announce the release of “The Fruits of Our Un-Labour”, my latest collection of speculative fiction short stories that push the boundaries of imagination and explore the intersection of feminism, dystopia, and Islamic spirituality.

Speculative Fiction at its Finest

From empowered Muslim hijabis to ghostly encounters, from satirical dystopias to speculative futures in Pakistan, the Middle East, and beyond, each story in “The Fruits of Our Un-Labour” invites you to reconsider your perceptions of reality and embrace the power of speculative fiction as a tool for social commentary and cultural critique.

Inspiration Behind “The Fruits of Our Un-Labour”:

The title story “The Fruits of Our Un-Labour,” was inspired by a collaboration with the Berlin-based artist Candice Breitz. Through this collaboration, we explored themes of feminist activism, reproductive rights, and the exploitation of female bodies, offering a powerful commentary on the intersection of art and social justice. Learn more about this project in the book.
